The Brick Miser: Advent Calendar 2016: Mega Bloks Despicable Me: Day 14

Day 14: Cookies & Milk

And today, we have an interesting one: a table with a milk carton and some cookies. Because it's not Christmas without an offering of sweets to pacify the great Claus god of Christmas!

It's not so much interesting in design as it is in set-up. It's a very simple table built from a round 2x2, a standard small cone piece, and a square 2x2, with some light-brown studs for cookies. Anyone could make one of these with the bricks from nearly any Lego set, but it's the simplicity and atmosphere that really makes it work. You don't need a lot of bricks to recreate a table, you just need to come up with the idea.

But what I really like is that they created a custom milk carton piece, since I always get excited when they create something unique for a set. They could have just as easily given us a solid-white cup piece to suggest milk, but because they actually made a milk carton, that just solidifies the image of being a young kid, putting milk and cookies out for Santa.

And yes, the handle allows the Minions to hold it.

Strangely, I was given this piece with this set as well, even though it wasn't included in the design. It was probably either accidentally mixed in with the rest of the pieces or was originally part of the design but they forgot to include it. Did anyone else get this piece in their calendar?

Overall, this is probably the most festive set we've had so far. It's cute and really captures the innocence of Christmas and being a kid. ...Though knowing the Minions, they probably accidentally baked some nitroglycerin into the dough... But again, knowing them, one is going to casually and cluelessly eat them and explode before they kill the fat man.
